Grandma Gennaco's Beef Braciole

Grandma Gennaco's Beef Braciole is a classic Italian dish that combines tender beef rolls filled with savory prosciutto, provolone, and a flavorful breadcrumb mixture. Slow-simmered in a rich marinara sauce with red wine, this dish is bursting with traditional Italian flavors and is perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices beef round, thinly pounded

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 6 slices prosciutto

  • 6 slices provolone cheese

  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 2 cups marinara sauce

  • 1/2 cup red wine

Instructions:

Season beef slices with salt and pepper


Lay a slice of prosciutto and provolone on each beef slice


Mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, and parsley; spread evenly over the beef slices


Roll up the beef slices tightly and secure with toothpicks


Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat


Brown beef rolls on all sides, then remove from skillet


In the same skillet, add marinara sauce and red wine; bring to a simmer


Return beef rolls to skillet, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, turning occasionally


Remove toothpicks before serving
